FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are there still openings for registration?

We will be accepting students for the 2020 Guild until May 31, 2020, or space is filled. There is no guarantee that registration time will be extended this year. Students need to register as soon as possible. Class size is limited to 95. Given the incredible teachers, exciting location, and dynamic courses, the class will fill quickly!

What is the cost of registration?

The registration fee of $495 is due at the time of registration. This deposit will hold your spot until the full payment deadline or until the class is full. The balance of tuition is due May 31, 2020.

What does the cost of tuition cover?

Lamplighter Guild tuition covers the cost of room and board (a bed in a shared room, meals from dinner Sunday through lunch Friday), Guild classes, speakers, evening lectures, and music, as well as access to recreational activities. The shuttle to and from the airport is not covered by registration. If you need lodging for any additional nights (before or after the Guild), you will need to pay a separate fee as well. Personal supplies for courses are the responsibility of the students. See your course page for required supplies. Some courses don't need anything more than note-taking material. Visual Arts students will need to bring painting suppies and an easel (details are available on the Visual Arts page).

What is the age requirement at the Lamplighter Guild?

The Guild invites those ages 16 - 99 to come and be inspired to creative excellence. Younger students may attend with a parent or other approved chaperone. Due to the intensity of the classes, we do not recommend attendance by anyone under the age of 12.

What are the rooming arrangements at the Lamplighter Guild?

Students will share accommodations with one or more roommates, depending on whether you request double or triple occupancy. A few select rooms may accommodate quad occupancy or need to be adjusted to quad occupancy based on final student numbers. Housing locations in Mount Morris will vary from hotel/bed and breakfast to guest houses on the Lamplighter campus and surrounding vicinity. Guild staff will make all location and room assignments based on your preference of occupancy and any specific roommate requests. We will do our best to accommodate special needs/requests. Please contact us if you have specific questions or concerns regarding housing.

What is your refund policy?

The following time periods correspond to the percentages refunded if you decide not to attend the Guild. August 1 - December 31, 2019: Full Refund. January 1-31, 2020: 75% Refund. February 1 - 28, 2020: 50% Refund. March 1 - 31, 2020: 25% Refund. No refunds will be issued after March 31, 2020.

When should I arrive?

The Guild will begin at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 12. Please plan to arrive and check in well before that time. Late arrivals will miss important Guild content in our kickoff session. Check-in begins at 1:00 PM and ends at 2:30 PM. If flying into Rochester International Airport and taking the Guild shuttle (for which there is an additional charge), we ask that you arrive at the airport no later than 1:00 PM, so you have enough time to get settled before the opening session. This is still cutting it close, and we strongly recommend an earlier arrival if at all possible. If you are driving, you may want to arrive earlier in the day and have lunch in town. We also recommend a visit to nearby Letchworth State Park for early arrivals.

Where can I stay if I arrive in the area the night before the Guild?

If you wish to arrive the night before and/or stay the night after the Guild, you will need to arrange ahead of time to stay in Lamplighter housing, or make your own hotel and transportation arrangements for those nights. If you are flying into Rochester and making hotel arrangements there on Saturday night, you may still take the Lamplighter shuttle from Rochester International Airport on Sunday. Can I trade volunteer work or teaching for tuition?

We do not currently have any volunteer or teaching opportunities to trade for tuition. However, interested students may join the Scholarship Team. This is a unique opportunity that allows students to share Lamplighter books and audio dramas with others while building credit for the Guild. For more information, please visit the Scholarship Team page.

What time does the Guild end on Friday?
